The two-years Master’s Degree in Global Security Studies trains professionals capable of operating in complex international environments and managing emerging global security challenges. A holistic approach to security is essential to cover traditional military and law enforcement crises alongside a wide range of threats, including poverty and injustice, health and environmental disasters, cyber and digital risks, food and energy shortages, migration, and humanitarian emergencies. Graduates will apprehend past, present, and future security challenges by combining hindsight and foresight and mobilizing multidisciplinary skills in the fields of crisis management, policymaking, development cooperation, and human rights protection. The 120-credit programme includes compulsory and elective courses in history, political science, law, area studies, sociology, and geopolitics, complementing a broad perspective focusing on interconnections and interdependencies with a problem-oriented approach to develop students’ theoretical and methodological skills. Other training activities include thematic workshops, negotiation and crisis simulations, language and IT classes, internships in Italy and abroad, as well as international student exchange opportunities. The degree is obtained after the defence of a master’s thesis. As a result, the programme will enhance the analytical, research, communication, and problem solving skills required for students to succeed in the international job market.
